Foxes by Sarah Dickenson Snyder

The runway models

of the animal kingdom,

slim weaving in long grasses,

swaying, strutting to our pond,

their pond. The kits, too—three of them

trotting behind and through

the parent parade.

I watch them

from the deck,

decked with dew.

Everything shining

and flourished with summer.

Sarah Dickenson Snyder has two poetry collections, The Human Contract and Notes from a Nomad. She was selected for the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference both times she applied. One poem was nominated for best of Net in 2017. Recent work appears in Chautauqua Literary Magazine, RHINO, and The Sewanee Review. See more at https://sarahdickensonsnyder.com/
