Depression

Mom soaked her pantyhose
in a pale yellow pan
on the counter
beside the sink.
Under the rusted
metal cabinet
and warped plastic mirror,
the nylon stiffened,
crusted with skin flecks
and unrinsed soap.
She left them so long
the water dried up.
